Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Strategists groups.

Viewers can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
